May Colvin (Roud 21, Child 4) is a traditional Appalachian/English/Celtic song that tells the story of a young woman who is kidnapped by a knight. He transports her to the ocean where he reveals that he intends to drown her, as he drowned several women who came before her. The heroine outwits him and uses her cunning and strength to drown him in the ocean.
